What Web Submission Services Do Not Tell You

If you submit your URL(s) either by hand or use a web submission service, or belong to any of the many affiliate programs, you should read the following VERY carefully! It will save you lots of time, energy, and effort. And it will also save you many headaches.

Each day the internet welcomes thousands of entrepreneurs each eager to claim their fair share of an incredible income. In life things happen in stages and in this article you are going to learn what really happens as opposed to what you may have been told by some shall we say "crafty" marketer's! Get ready for an eye opener.

I have seen time and time again, people lose motivation very quickly after they try marketing on the internet, and do not immediately get thousands of orders like they may have been promised. This is very sad as ( if given the honest information of how to properly market) many of these folks would be enjoying an abundant and blessed income right now! Here's what happens but doesn't have to happen to you.

When first starting out, most have little to nothing in their advertising budget. In fact most have to scrape together the funds to advertise at all. Some try to find free places to promote their web address. These people sit for hours and manually type their ads to list one or more URL's to the many "Free For ALL" or FFA pages. They sit back and wait for the big payday for all the hard work invested. Guess what, it doesn't come. Next they learn there are submission services that for a small fee, will do the submissions for them to thousands of FFA's, links pages, directories, search engines, and commercial newsgroups etc. On the surface this sounds like the way to go not to mention saving lots of time. Well not quite, here's what really happens and why you should give very serious thought to how your web address can actually be BLOCKED BY THOUSANDS of sites all over the internet! Make sure you know who you are doing business with or they may do more harm than good for your URL.

Many web submission services are nothing more than a person who bought a web submission software package and are using it to submit many people's sites. Many submission services abuse your URL in the FFA pages using the very methods in this article. This is one thing they do not tell you when they take your money!

As a webmaster, I have a very successful web site. Thousands each day submit a link to their web sites on my FFA links page. I'm happy to provide a free source of promotion however, like all things in life their are a few bad apples who are causing many honest folks to permanently suffer without their knowledge or approval.

A webmaster ads a FFA links page to his site for two reasons. First it is a great traffic builder. Second, in exchange for allowing posted links, the webmaster (under the terms listed on 99.9% of all FFA sites) will send (using a cgi script) a short confirmation of the successful post to let the poster know the ad was received. These confirmations often have some very good marketing articles, tools, software and related items to help anyone marketing anything online or off and shouldn't be overlooked. There are many free valuable resources on the internet!

Some people decided along the way they wanted to gain the benefit of the webmasters FFA service, yet didn't want the webmaster to be able to gain the benefit of the follow up confirmation email. How is this fair to the webmaster? Well as a result the webmasters quickly came to the conclusion that if someone wants to use the service but can't agree to getting an email confirmation, why then should they allow them to post any further ads? It sounds reasonable enough. After all it's much easier to just BLOCK the person from posting any further ads. It doesn't stop here as many webmasters share the names and domains of people who use fake email addresses, auto responders etc. and those sites get blocked on not just one, but THOUSANDS of sites forever!

Webmasters get notified of each person who posts a link to their FFA site. It looks something like this:

Title: Earn $3,000. to $5,000 WEEKLY... URL: http://www.computermillions.com Section: Business Submitted by: email goes here

Many people submit an ad using a fake email address, or a email address from a service such as hotmail.com, email.com, yahoo.com etc. What they don't realize is more and more webmasters have blocked those people from posting ads using an email address from these places. I'll explain more about this in a moment. In fact many sites will not accept an order online if it comes from one of these email domains as they have so much negative association. This should be considered.

The webmaster can easily see not only who is posting ads, but also the IP address of the person who posted it, as well as the date and time etc. When a person uses a fake email address, or one of those drop email boxes like email.com, yahoo.com, hotmail.com etc. to avoid getting confirmations, the webmaster knows it and is often sent an error email message saying the email box is either full, or over the quota. Multiply this by thousands of people using these methods and you can soon see how webmasters would get upset at getting many error email messages.

The next reason webmasters are upset is that people use an auto responder as a way to trick people into asking for more information. What happens is they submit an ad using an auto responder, the script from the FFA site sends out the email confirmation and next thing you know the auto responder and script are sending out mail back and forth over and over again. This causes wasted bandwidth and servers and web hosts do not appreciate it.

I"ve spoken to several free and paid auto responder services. I've been told by ALL they do NOT appreciate people using their responders in this way! They have very strict policies against it. In fact one provider even goes after the abusers legally for violating the terms of service agreed to when they signed up for his service!

Here's how THOUSANDS of webmasters are fighting back!!!

Most serious markers belong to hundreds, and in some cases thousands of marketing discussion lists. These lists each can have anywhere from a few hundred to many thousands of subscribers. On top of that their are thousands of very good marketing ezines and newsletters which the owners have notified their subscribers of these unethical practices and shown them ways to stop the abusers.

Webmasters have the ability to easily BLOCK a person from posting any further ads by either certain words appearing in the headline, or the URL address itself. Here's where many who belong to an affiliate program are going to be VERY angry. Let's say you belong to a program called "affilationsXYZ" and your URL looks something like: [http://www.affiliationsxyz.com/members/123456] [http://www.affiliationsxyz.com/members/123456]and you are one of those who choose to try and avoid the email confirmations. When the webmasters get tired of seeing [http://www.affiliationsxyz.com] in the error folder, they will simply BLOCK anyone using [http://www.affiliationsxyz.com] [http://www.affiliationsxyz.com]from being able to post any ads in the future period. Well not only did they stop you but also anyone else that is also in the same affiliate program you are. Instead of you being the one trying to avoid the confirmations, let's say you are trying to do things the right way and you just paid a reliable submission service to submit your site and for the reasons outlined in this article your ad was rejected by thousands of sites. How do you feel? Is this fair to you? Of course not, but it is already happening to many unknowing, unsuspecting people by the thousands every second of every day!!!

Scripts are in the works right now to bypass the given email address when the ad is posted. This means you will receive a reply to the root domain name. This will greatly effect people who are still using web addresses by AOL or any free site thats address begins with members.AOL etc. which is all the more reason to get your own domain name and not only avoid these issues but also to show people you are a serious business so they will take you seriously.

No matter what your web submission person or consultant tells you, I have shared the true and honest facts. You can listen to someone who cannot demonstrate the wealth and success gained by doing things the proper way, or you can listen to someone who can prove these things to you. It's a choice you should make carefully.

What to do to manage the email confirmations effectively.

I suggest a good email management program like Eudora Pro to filter your email and organize it into related folders. This will make it much easier for you to not only move the FFA confirmations to their own folder, but also to easily organize all email.
